Ten things I learnt about Prague

I went to Prague a couple of months ago. I wrote this list and then forgot about it. Its dumb, but i thought i'd share it. I might include pictures at a later date if I feel so inclined.

1. The architecture is outstanding, imposing and beautiful.

2. It’s a bit like York, but better.

3. Most of the shops are full of merchandise of a cartoon mole named “Krtek”. He is apparently very popular.

4. Much to my disappointment, they have Tesco supermarkets.

5. A common Czech dish is roasted pork knee. I didn’t sample it.

6. In the “Lesser Town” area, across Charles Bridge, they have a line of yellow plastic penguins that sit on the edge of the water and light up at night. THis apparently is an art exhibition, i hope it stays. they rock.

7. It is choc full of tacky glass souvenir shops.

8. The beer is far superior to any others I have had. Pilsner Urquell or Staropramen are particular favourites. It ranges in price from 30 – 100 crowns depending on the pub. You can get both in English supermarkets indecently.

9. Despite its impressive workmanship and huge crowds it draws on the hour, the astronomical clock is boring.

10. It is full of German tourists, which have a knack of taking piles of food to their tables at breakfast and after poking it around for ten minutes decide not to eat it, making everyone else hungry.
